The Arrecife City Council, through the Department of Health headed by Cathaysa Suárez, has awarded the supply of new essential machinery for the Municipal Cemetery of San Román, with the aim of modernizing its resources, reinforcing the occupational safety of staff, and guaranteeing a more dignified, efficient, and respectful development of funeral services.

The action includes the acquisition of a coffin lifting platform, an aluminum descent device, an electric stretcher for coffin transport, and an electric tipper vehicle for waste, equipment essential for the proper functioning of the cemetery, according to the needs report prepared by the department.

The Councilor for Health, Cathaysa Suárez, has highlighted that "this investment responds to a real and urgent need. The Arrecife cemetery has been registering an increase in activity for decades, and its staff had been facing very physically demanding tasks, in many cases with machinery that no longer complied with current regulations. With this renovation, we guarantee their safety, improve efficiency, and ensure more dignified treatment in all funeral procedures." Suárez also emphasizes that the new equipment "complies with all European certifications and the requirements established in the Occupational Risk Prevention Law, something that was a priority for this governing group."

The contract has been awarded to the company Máquinas Opein SLU, after obtaining the highest score in the open tendering procedure, for an amount of 112,900 euros plus 7,903 euros for IGIC, with a maximum execution period of 45 days from its formalization. The total investment initially planned amounted to 121,431.09 euros.

The Councilor for Finance, Contracting, and acting mayor, Echedey Eugenio, has highlighted the importance of this award as part of the modernization of municipal services and stressed that "we are fulfilling the obligation to provide the City Council with the necessary means to provide public services in optimal conditions. This procedure has been processed with absolute transparency and prioritizing the technical solvency of the offers. The new machinery will allow for a more efficient and safer service, both for citizens and for workers."Eugenio adds that "the renovation of municipal equipment is a priority for this government, because it improves the quality of services and also internal management. Arrecife moves forward when it modernizes its resources, and that is precisely what we are doing."
