The Arrecife City Council received this Wednesday the letter from the Canary Islands Coastal Demarcation where it requires the Consistory for the "acceptance of the conditions for the extension of the administrative concession of Islote de Fermina", according to the institution.

After that, the mayor of Arrecife, Ástrid Perez, has called an extraordinary plenary session for March 16, where the approval of the conditions established by Costas to extend the concession for the occupation of 794 square meters of the public maritime-terrestrial domain, destined for sports, nautical and recreational facilities for community public use, in the Islote de la Fermina will be carried out.

The procedures for the extension of the administrative concession began in this mandate, agreeing in the municipal plenary session, in its session of October 25, 2019, the extension request that would allow the opening of this public space on the capital's coastline.

As determined by the Coastal Demarcation, the City Council plenary session must now accept the conditions of Costas within 10 days from this Wednesday, which is when the notification has been received. According to that document, the mayor has highlighted that the extension is for 10 years, extendable up to 24 years.

With this definitive procedure, and after the plenary agreement, the Arrecife City Council must soon receive the concession title of the extension that the General Directorate of Coast and the Sea ratifies.
