Arrecife promotes the integral transformation of the Argana Alta and Baja neighborhoods

Arrecife published this Wednesday the tender for the drafting of the global modernization of these two neighborhoods, one of the projects with the largest investment in this mandate

The Mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León.

The mayor of Arrecife and head of Public Works, Yonathan de León, has promoted the integral modernization of the Argana Alta and Argana Baja neighborhoods, where nearly 35% of the population of the capital of Lanzarote resides.

The Public Sector Contracting Platform published this Wednesday the official tender of the Arrecife City Council for the contracting of the drafting of the comprehensive transformation project of the Argana Alta and Baja neighborhoods.

As specified in this announcement, signed by the Mayor's Office, the tender is segmented into three lots. The Argana Alta neighborhood is projected to be transformed and modernized in two phases, and the Argana Baja neighborhood is planned in one.

Yonathan de León recalled that "his commitment, since he was proclaimed capital mayor - in July of last year - is to give priority in this mandate to the renovation of the neighborhoods".

Thus, within this line, and since there were no - until now - reports or execution projects for these two neighborhoods, the mayor as head of the Public Works Area, has put a direct team to prepare the tender for these technical projects, in which he has been coordinating in those months ago. In different meetings with the residents of these neighborhoods, Yonathan de León had advanced that "the modernization of the Argana Alta and Baja neighborhoods would be a reality before 2027".

The architecture or engineering studies that are awarded have "four months for the drafting of the reports and execution projects".

The mayor wants the global transformation of these neighborhoods to be launched, in phases, throughout the summer of 2025.

Thus, the Department of Public Works of Arrecife currently has several improvement works underway in the neighborhoods of San Francisco Javier, Las Salinas and, during this autumn, new actions will be added in Altavista and La Destila. Since last September, the modernization of the Tinasoria neighborhood, in the urban block where social housing is located, has been underway.

Yonathan de León has emphasized that the City Council has the largest budget in its history. Investments in works and facilities, both from municipal resources and contributions from other administrations, are allowing the renovation of different areas of Arrecife to be promoted with nearly 30 million euros.
