The Government Group of the Arrecife City Council, led by Mayor Yonathan de León (People's Party), has publicly announced this Friday that it joins the call for a concentration convened by the ultra organization Hazte Oír in Lanzarote and by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) throughout the country in a show of "solidarity and support for Ceuta and its citizens".
Mayor Yonathan de León, and the vice-president of the Commission for Immigration and Social Inclusion of the FEMP (Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces), Jacobo Medina González, who is also a councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and a colleague from the People's Party, have announced their attendance at this call, which is expected to take place in front of the Arrecife City Council on September 2nd.
After this concentration, which will be at 7 p.m. in the Canary Islands, both have announced that they will make statements to the media.
The adherence of the Government Group of the Arrecife City Council comes after the ultra organization Hazte Oír has stirred up on social networks and through a press release a mobilization in Lanzarote against the Government of Spain, presided over by Pedro Sánchez (PSOE), for the episode that occurred in Ceuta at the end of July, when around 72,000 people entered the autonomous city through the border with Morocco.
Hazte Oír had already previously promoted other concentrations in Lanzarote, coinciding with the Spanish president's vacation period at the Official Residence of La Mareta, in Costa Teguise, with the rest of his family this August. These concentrations gathered a few dozen people with banners in front of this space. They were also accompanied by graffiti on public buildings.
