The Arrecife City Council has launched an advertising campaign in the metro and buses of Madrid to promote the capital of Lanzarote as a destination for urban getaways among Madrid travelers. This promotional initiative, coinciding with the '225th anniversary' of the founding of the municipality of Arrecife, has been presented by the mayor Yonathan de León, and the Councilor for Tourism, Commerce and Sports, Eli Merino, who have attended the 'International Tourism Fair' (Fitur) in Madrid.

Strategically, the City Council has focused this campaign, under the name 'Arrecife your next getaway' at the metro station in 'Ifema Madrid' through which nearly 300,000 people pass during these eight weeks of the campaign. Only during these days of 'Fitur 2024', and with statistics from the Metro de Madrid, the station in the Campo de las Naciones will be used by about 90,000 users. This station is part of line 8, which connects Nuevos Ministerios with Barajas, the main one for travelers entering and leaving Madrid. In addition, important headquarters buildings of large national and international companies are located in the Campo de las Naciones, the Madrid Congress Palace is located, and the Madrid trade fair institution has scheduled new international fairs in these months of January and February, the period of the Arrecife promotional campaign in this medium.

The campaign is illustrated with images of the Charco de San Ginés area and El Reducto beach, taken by Juan Méndez, a prominent photographer from Arrecife, who has published for National Geographic.

In parallel, Arrecife Tourism has strengthened this promotional action of the capital, with a direct advertising campaign by labeling the buses of Line 621 that connects the town of Las Rozas (with the presence of headquarters of important national companies) with the Moncloa station, in the capital of Madrid. The exteriors of these buses (coaches) invite you to follow the route to Arrecife where the next stop is...

Yonathan de León has remarked that "Arrecife is being demanded by tourists who visit Lanzarote as it is the capital of the island, has tourist attractions, the urban beach of El Reducto, a good gastronomic and leisure offer, and good optimal public transport connectivity with other areas of the island, in addition to being the main port for the arrival of cruise passengers".

The Councilor for Tourism, Eli Merino, has stressed that the latest data known from the ISTAC on income per tourist and night on accommodation in Lanzarote reveal that the "accommodation establishments in Arrecife generate an income of more than 100 euros per night, being higher than the average of other tourist municipalities in Lanzarote".

These indicators show that local companies are committed to Arrecife as a place to continue betting as a municipality with tourism potential, in addition to the consolidated hotel and commercial commitment.
