The Councilor for Tourism of the Arrecife City Council, Ángela Hernández, has initiated the procedures for a twinning between the cities of Arrecife and the Brazilian Recife, after meeting at the International Tourism Fair, Fitur 2010, with the Director of Tourism of Pernambuco, belonging to Embatur (Tourism Promotion Company of Brazil).
This twinning aims to "strengthen ties between public and business officials of both cities in order to share commercial and tourist experiences between two similar urban environments, on both sides of the Atlantic", explains Hernández.
Satisfaction
The Arrecife councilor, who was very satisfied with the results obtained by the capital delegation in Fitur, also shared a working day with the manager of the Mixed Society for Management and Tourism Planning of the city of Gijón, Joaquín Miranda, in order to learn about the experience of this society in the materialization and development of Mixed Entities.
The day was shared with technical and political representatives of other municipalities that have also opted for the development of public-private Mixed Entities for tourism management, and it was agreed to "specify a new working meeting in Lanzarote in the coming months in order to approximate experiences and learn about good working practices", says the councilor. Likewise, Ángela Hernández met with tourism representatives from Barcelona, Gijón, La Coruña and Málaga, "to learn firsthand about the operation of their Mixed Tourism Entities, and advance in the materialization of Arrecife 2020".
