The Arrecife City Council has approved this Friday in a plenary session a budget modification that incorporates 36.8 million euros from treasury surpluses, raising the municipal budget to 126.8 million euros.
The measure, processed by the mayor, Yonathan de León, as the direct head of the Budget Management Unit attached to the Mayor's Office, will allow for an increase in allocations for investments and public services. With this incorporation of funds, the City Council plans to allocate more than 37 million euros to actions in the neighborhoods and the reinforcement of municipal services during 2026 and 2027.
As highlighted by the government group, Arrecife will thus have the highest budgets in its history and an investment plan aimed at the transformation of the neighborhoods and the modernization of the city.
After the celebration of the Plenary session, the mayor pointed out that the objective is to continue transforming the neighborhoods, modernizing public services, and improving the capital to face the challenges of the future.
The budget modification, one of the largest in recent years, includes a total investment of 36.8 million euros aimed at promoting strategic projects for the city, including actions to improve cohesion between neighborhoods through interventions in the road network and accessibility.
The proposal will allow for action in different parts of Arrecife with improvements in streets, public spaces, infrastructure, sports facilities, playgrounds, cleaning, security, and other municipal services.
Among the planned actions are the integral transformation of Manolo Millares street, the renovation of Triana street, interventions in Valterra, investments in Argana Alta, the creation of new playgrounds, improvements in sports facilities, the reinforcement of street cleaning and waste collection, as well as new actions in security and civil protection.
From the Budget Management Unit, it is highlighted that this modification will allow the transformation of the municipal surplus into direct investments for the residents and the acceleration of actions demanded for years in different neighborhoods of the capital.
The proposal is financed entirely with treasury surplus, that is, with resources already existing in the municipal coffers and without the need to resort to new debt.
The file incorporates investments in maintenance and rehabilitation of public roads, modernization of urban infrastructures, improvement of parks and public spaces, citizen security, mobility and transport, cultural and sports facilities, as well as social and environmental actions.
The City Council plans to promote numerous tenderings for works linked to these investments in the coming months.
