The Arrecife City Council has already felled the tree in the Ramírez Cerdá Park that presented "poor condition and instability" and posed "a danger to pedestrians."
From the capital's Consistory they recall that they recently received authorization from the Cabildo, through the island's Heritage area, "after the requirements made from the Arrecife City Council."
This has been highlighted by the mayor, Ástrid Pérez, who has positively valued "inter-institutional collaboration, which demonstrates that when institutions work in a coordinated manner, the response to the problems of the city and its residents is much more effective."
"It is a relief to have solved this problem because the state of the removed specimen, despite the security measures previously adopted by the City Council, represented a serious danger to pedestrians in Ramírez Cerdá Park and to the environment itself, which has an important heritage value," says the Councilor for Parks and Gardens, David Toledo.
From the Consistory they recall that the action of felling the tree specimen "was carried out after a technical report from the company Prezero España, S.A., the company holding the contract for the urban tree maintenance service," warned "of the risk situation of collapse and fall of this specimen located in the José Ramírez Cerdá Park, since in recent months there have been some episodes of falling branches in this and other trees in the park, in addition to various recreational and sports events throughout the environment."
Finally, the Councilor for Parks and Gardens has responded regarding "the criticisms for the supposed controversy generated by the City Council in its request to the Cabildo of Lanzarote." "At no time have we sought any type of dispute with the Cabildo of Lanzarote. On the contrary, all we have done is open a channel for dialogue that would allow us to jointly find a satisfactory solution, as has happened, to avoid greater damage," he says.
