The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the councilor for Security and Emergencies, Kevin Cortés, have congratulated the members of the Civil Protection Volunteer Group this Sunday, March 1, where the Civil Protection Day is commemorated internationally.
The Arrecife City Council awarded last autumn, in a solemn act, the Medal of the City of Arrecife to this group, and to all members who are part of Arrecife Civil Protection, a unit that is in a great process of modernization with new equipment and systems.
Precisely, during the development of the International Security Exhibition, Sicur, which has been held this week in Madrid, the mayor of the capital of Lanzarote, Yonathan de León, together with the Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Kevin Cortés, area to which the Civil Protection Group is attached, announced that in during this 2026 the City Council will debut the new endowments and means so that Civil Protection continues providing essential assistance in emergencies or mass events. Part of these materials have already been acquired through official tenders called last year, to which new modernization will be added with upcoming tenders that will be published on the Public Procurement Platform.
The mayor Yonathan de León and councilman Kevin Cortés have shown recognition to Civil Protection of Arrecife for their important and tireless dedication and commitment which become fundamental for protecting lives, managing emergency risks, and assisting in prevention and security deployments in mass events, with the Civil Protection Group of Arrecife becoming a great pillar of citizen security.
This unit, in addition to providing services in the capital of Lanzarote, frequently does so at mass events in other municipalities of Lanzarote or other islands of the Canary Archipelago.
De León Machín and councilman Kevin Cortés reiterate the recognition of gratitude to the volunteers and personnel for their dedication, even in the most adverse conditions, demonstrating solidarity and vocation of service to the Conejera society.
