The Department of Cleaning of the Arrecife City Council, headed by Jacobo Lemes, carried out a new operation this Friday on the banks and the dock of the Charco de San Ginés, taking advantage of the low tide to access areas where waste accumulates and facilitate its removal.

These works are included in the technical specifications of the municipal street cleaning and waste collection service, which establishes periodic specific cleanings in this environment to remove plastics, papers, clothes, and other objects that end up on the banks or inside the dock.

This operation complements the usual cleaning tasks of the streets and the promenade of the Charco and allows access to points that require specific intervention and whose access depends, to a large extent, on the state of the tide.

Jacobo Lemes has made a call for civic-mindedness and citizen collaboration to keep the Charco in good condition, and recalled that “the cleaning of Arrecife is a shared task. From the City Council we do our job, but it is also important that each person takes responsibility for their waste and avoids throwing it in spaces like the Charco, which is part of our city and our daily lives,” he points out.

The councilor emphasizes that small gestures, such as using trash cans and not abandoning waste, help to preserve this environment and prevent garbage from ending up in the water or accumulating on its banks.

Likewise, he has emphasized that the Department of Cleaning will continue to carry out these works according to the service's planning, taking into account the characteristics of this environment and the conditions that allow for the adequate removal of waste.
