The Arrecife City Council, through the Department of Beaches, has closed the awarding of the umbrella and sunbed service on El Reducto beach. The Councilor for Beaches, Davinia Déniz, recalled that these services "are highly demanded by hoteliers in the area, as an added advantage to increase the occupancy levels of these accommodation establishments, mainly in the season that is now starting, autumn and winter".
The awarded company will manage these services until December 31, 2029, as stated in the award published this Monday by the Arrecife City Council on the Public Sector Contracting Platform. The Arrecife City Council emphasizes that the Department of Beaches put these services out to tender after receiving the mandatory authorization from the Coastal Authority.
"El Reducto beach offers one of the largest accommodation offerings in the capital of Lanzarote in its surroundings, and both tour operators and hotel managements have shown their approval for this main beach of the capital of Lanzarote, with a Blue Flag, to offer users sunbed and umbrella services," the City Council defends.
Another advantage of offering this service on El Reducto beach is for travelers visiting Arrecife on tourist cruises who choose to sunbathe and swim on this beach during their stay on the island, generating more income for the hospitality sector present on the renovated pedestrian promenade next to Fred Olsen avenue.
The new sunbed and umbrella service is being rolled out coinciding with the start of the cruise season, during which Arrecife will receive one hundred calls before the end of the year, according to data from the Port Authority of Las Palmas.
