The Department of Citizen Participation of the Arrecife City Council has launched a special device so that the residents of the capital can accompany the Virgen de Los Dolores, patron saint of Lanzarote, on her pilgrimage to the island's capital, on November 30.

As is known, the Diocese of the Canary Islands will celebrate the third Descent of the Virgen de Los Dolores from her sanctuary of Mancha Blanca, in Tinajo, to Arrecife, where she will remain for eight days, on the last day of this month. This pilgrimage, which has not been held for 59 years, will begin around 6:00 a.m., and the image of the Patron Saint is expected to arrive at the church of San Ginés, in Arrecife, around 5:00 p.m., after traveling the 18 kilometers that separate the sanctuary of Mancha Blanca from the capital.

On the occasion of this historic celebration, the Department of Citizen Participation of the Arrecife City Council will provide buses to transport interested residents from Arrecife to Tinajo, from where they will be able to accompany the Virgin walking to the city.

"It is a very special moment for the entire island, and from the Department we want to facilitate the participation of our residents, whom we invite to register and live this experience," said councilor Cathaysa Suárez, who also highlighted "the importance of signing up only if you have the physical capacity to make the journey on foot."

For his part, the parish priest of San Ginés, Juan Carlos Medina, recalls that "The Descent of the Virgen de Los Dolores is an act of faith and union among the people of Lanzarote" and encourages the parishioners of Arrecife "to join with respect and gratitude this historic day for our island."
