Around 200 people already make up The Platform against Noise in Arrecife

The Platform has denounced on 'Buenos días, Lanzarote' that this situation is especially affecting elderly people and that, even, "there is a lady whose mother is 97 years old and she cannot take her out of the house"

The president of the Platform Against Noise in Arrecife, Félix Mendikote, has once again claimed on the microphones of Buenos días, Lanzarote on Radio Lanzarote - Onda Cero the problem of carnival celebrations next to homes in the capital, which affects the elderly and sick above all.

In this regard, he has assured that many of the neighbors complain that "the walls and the windows vibrate, creating tremendous anguish." "There are people who are sick and elderly people... there is a lady whose mother is 97 years old and she cannot take her out of the house and that lady is suffering indescribably," he continued.

The Arrecife Against Noise Platform currently has around 200 members and citizens who are suffering from this type of nuisance can contact the Platform through the following phone number: 640 338 089. The president has emphasized that individual complaints are vital in issues such as noise nuisance.

Mendikote has blamed the administrations for this situation because "they cannot be unaware of the damage they are causing to the residents." "We only want the regulations to be complied with; if they were complied with, we would not reach these extremes. We have requested it from the City Council actively and passively, but if it does not comply with it, that is what courts are for," he stated.

Furthermore, he has explained that from the Platform they have requested documentation from the Arrecife City Council on several occasions regarding the celebrations that were going to take place, but "they have never received a response". Now, as he has stated, through legal advice they will check if they comply with the regulations or not and "if they do not comply, someone superior will have to say whether this can be done or not".
