Aena will carry out improvement and expansion works at Lanzarote Airport

The PSOE has pointed out that this initiative "gives continuity to the work started in 2019 during its time at the head of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, when it was possible to include the airport in the DORA 2022-2026"

The Socialist Party of Lanzarote celebrated this Wednesday Aena's proposal for the new investment cycle 2027-2031 (DORA III), which includes key actions at the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport, including the expansion and comprehensive improvement of its facilities, new check-in areas, security and boarding controls, improved accessibility and intermodality, as well as an aesthetic renovation that will take into account the visual identity of the island.

The general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote and deputy in Congress, María Dolores Corujo, has highly valued this proposal which, as she recalled, gives continuity to the work started in 2019 during her time at the head of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, when it was possible to include the airport in the DORA 2022-2026.

“We are talking about one of the most strategic infrastructures for our island, and it is a great satisfaction to see that the demands that we promoted during our mandate, in coordination with the Government of Spain and Aena, continue to advance and bear concrete fruit,” Corujo pointed out.

The socialist deputy has highlighted that the new investment cycle planned in the DORA 2027-2031 will mean a profound transformation of the airport, both in capacity and in services and design, “in accordance with what Lanzarote deserves and aligned with our commitment to a more sustainable, accessible and higher quality tourism model.”

Corujo has also valued Aena's sustainability approach, whose commitment is to achieve carbon-neutral airports in 2030: “These are investments that not only improve the passenger experience and the competitiveness of our destination, but do so from an environmental approach that we share and celebrate.”

The PSOE of Lanzarote emphasizes that this investment is "further proof of what can be achieved when there is political will, rigorous technical work and cooperation between administrations."

“Faced with the noise and paralysis that we see today in the Cabildo, this is a clear sign that important things are achieved when you govern with vision, planning and responsibility,” Corujo concluded.
