A sewage spill forces the closure of Playa Blanca beach again

This has been denounced by the Popular Party, which demands that the Cabildo "act" in the face of this problem, generated by the state of the nearby pumping station

Playa Blanca beach, closed again for swimming

The beach of the town of Playa Blanca has had to be closed again for swimming due to a sewage spill in the area of the ravine, as denounced by the councilors of the Popular Party in the City Council of Yaiza. "Once again, we are giving a terrible image to the tourism sector," lament the popular ones.

The local president of the PP and municipal spokesperson, Juan Monzón, highlights "the anger and widespread discomfort that this fact causes in the residents, merchants and restaurateurs of the town, who are really tired of the Island Water Consortium not taking action on the matter, either by demanding greater cleaning and maintenance from Canal Gestión" of the pumping station near that beach, "or by making the investment necessary to end this serious problem."

"This situation is completely unsustainable, as it is a problem that is repeated periodically in the main tourist area of the municipality, giving a totally third-world image of a destination that stands out for its environmental and landscape wealth, as well as for the quality of its accommodation and hotel offer," insist the PP councilors.

Therefore, they demand that the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, "as the highest authority of the Consortium, assume her responsibility once and for all to prevent this type of situation from continuing to occur precisely in one of the busiest parts of the avenue."

"The truth is that episodes of these characteristics are repeated a dozen times throughout the year, whether in winter or summer, so the problem is already more than identified and the way to solve it too. Another thing is that there is no will to solve it after so long," says Juan Monzón.
