The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated yellow alerts for high temperatures for this Saturday and also for Sunday in Lanzarote and La Graciosa as a consequence of the heatwave that is affecting the island.

Until now, both islands had been spared from alerts, although it was predicted that the thermometer would reach up to 35 degrees over the weekend. Although the initial forecasts that placed the thermometer in San Bartolomé at highs of up to 39 degrees have been lowered, the heat will be felt intensely.

The heatwave in which the archipelago has been immersed since last Wednesday, will leave a yellow alert this Saturday for high temperatures in Lanzarote and La Graciosa between 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM. The maximum temperature will be 34 degrees, especially affecting inland areas.

While for Sunday, the maximum temperature will be 35 degrees. The heat will be felt especially in inland areas and on the southeastern coasts of Lanzarote. Meanwhile, it cannot be ruled out that 37 degrees could be reached.
