The General Directorate of Emergencies, based on the prediction of AEMET and/or other available sources, has declared an alert for strong winds and swell in Lanzarote and La Graciosa from 00.00 hours this Thursday. In addition, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) had previously declared a yellow warning for poor sea conditions and wind.
Wind gusts will be very strong and may reach and exceed 70-100 kilometers per hour in Lanzarote, El Hierro, La Gomera, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura. Meanwhile, in La Palma and Tenerife, the alert will be maximum, with hurricane-force wind gusts that may reach and exceed 110-130 kilometers per hour, especially in the summits.
For its part, the swell alert will affect all the islands of the archipelago and there will be strong swell to rough seas with northwest groundswell and waves of between 3 and 4 meters. There will be combined sea swell on the north and west coasts of La Palma, El Hierro, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote where the waves will reach between 4 and 5 meters in height.
In addition, in the islands of La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and Tenerife, the yellow warning for rain will also be activated this Thursday with records that may leave accumulated up to 15 liters per square meter in one hour.
