"If they touch one of us, they touch all of us." With this message, the Las Kellys Association and Trade Unionists of the Canary Islands gathered this Thursday afternoon in front of the Club Hotel Riu Paraíso Lanzarote, located in Puerto del Carmen, to protest the dismissal of a worker. Attendees staged a loud whistle to denounce what they consider an "unfair and arbitrary" dismissal.

According to what the union had already pointed out, this employee was subjected to an "illegal search carried out by a security guard", in which "a piece of cooked meat that she was taking home for dinner" was found.

"The disciplinary measure resulting in the dismissal of this worker is totally disproportionate," say the organizers of this protest, who believe that "the only intention is to magnify this fact to avoid paying compensation for a dismissal that makes no sense and that obeys the arrogant, inhuman and despotic attitude of the management of this hotel."

In an attempt to get the company to rectify, several members of Las Kellys and Trade Unionists of the Canary Islands attended this rally with banners that also carried messages such as "organize yourself if you don't want to be organized."
