The Ministry of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, headed by Migdalia Machín, has published this Monday the call for travel grants corresponding to the 2025/2026 academic year. The procedure is brought forward by one month compared to last year.

The call has an initial allocation of one million euros, which represents an increase of 300,000 euros compared to the previous call. Furthermore, the credit is expandable, which will allow for an increase in funding based on budgetary availability to meet the needs of the call. This line of aid aims to partially cover the travel expenses of students residing in the Canary Islands who have had to pursue official undergraduate or master's studies outside their island of residence, as well as those participating in SICUE or ERASMUS+ mobility programs, in the cases provided for in the call.

Those who have pursued official undergraduate or master's studies at public universities on another island or in the rest of Spain, as well as those who have participated in SICUE or ERASMUS+ mobility programs, may be eligible for these grants, provided they meet the requirements established in the call.

The Minister of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture, Migdalia Machín, highlighted that "the increase in the allocation and the advancement of the call respond to the same will: to continue reinforcing a line of aid that is essential for many university students in the Canary Islands and to continue improving the management of procedures that have a direct impact on their daily lives".

Machín added that "every improvement we incorporate into these calls responds to the commitment to offer an increasingly useful, effective, and closer response to the students. Our goal is to continue strengthening aid that expands opportunities for those who must travel to continue their university education".

The amounts range between 120 and 240 euros for inter-island travel, depending on the origin and destination, and reach 360 euros for those who have pursued studies at public universities in the rest of Spain or participated in ERASMUS+ mobility programs.

The applications must be submitted starting this June 30 exclusively electronically, through the electronic headquarters of the Government of the Canary Islands, for a period of one month from the day after the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands.
