The heat wave suffering the Canary Islands is leaving very high values in different points of the archipelago. In fact, a town on the islands registered for the third consecutive day the highest temperature in all of Spain, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
This town, which has been experiencing suffocating temperatures for several days, is Tasarte, in the Gran Canarian municipality of La Aldea de San Nicolás, where this Tuesday 42.6 degrees were reached.
Very close behind is the figure registered in the town of Chejelipes, in La Gomera, where the thermometers reached 41.3 degrees, according to Aemet data. For its part, in La Dehesa, in El Hierro, 40.7 degrees were reached.
As for La Palma, the town of Santo Domingo, in Garafía, and Los Llanos de Aridane, registered the highest temperature on the island with 39.8 degrees. Almost the same temperature was registered in El Pozo, in Guía de Isora, in Tenerife, with 39.2 degrees.
Thus, in the Majorero municipality of Pájara, it reached 37.3 degrees this Tuesday, while in Lanzarote, San Bartolomé was the hottest area on the island with 35 degrees.
The island where the heat was best tolerated was La Graciosa, where the mercury did not exceed 28.3 degrees this Tuesday.
Wind gusts in Lanzarote of more than 70 kilometers per hour
Lanzarote and La Graciosa are under a yellow alert this Tuesday and Wednesday due to strong wind gusts that can reach 70 kilometers per hour. During this Tuesday, Tinajo registered gusts of up to 72 kilometers per hour, according to Aemet data.
As for Arrecife, it also reached 70 kilometers per hour, while in other areas such as Tías or Lanzarote Airport, gusts of 68 kilometers per hour were registered.
