36.7% of the target population of Lanzarote has already received at least one dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 and 14.5% have already completed the vaccination schedule, according to data provided by the island's Health area. In addition, Lanzarote has already started vaccinating people under 50 years of age.

Specifically, the Health Department sets the “target population” on the island at 130,577 people, excluding those under 16 years of age. Of these, 48,092 people have received at least one dose and 19,001 people are already immunized, after having received the complete schedule. Thus, since the beginning of vaccination, a total of 67,093 doses have been administered in Lanzarote.

By age, the percentage of vaccination exceeds 100% in those over 80 years. And it is worth remembering that in addition to the officially registered population, residents on the island who do not have their health card in Lanzarote are also being vaccinated. Thus, in people over 90 years of age, the percentage of people who have received at least one dose reaches 115.1% and that of those immunized to 110%, while in the group of 80 to 89 years the percentages are 108.3% and 104.1% respectively.

As for the age group of 70 to 79 years, 94.8% have already received at least the first dose and 89.9% already have the complete vaccination schedule. For its part, 87.5% of people between 60 and 69 years have already received at least one dose and 20.9% are already immunized; while in the case of people between 50 and 59 years, only 5.8% have completed the vaccination schedule, but 63.7% have already received at least the first dose.

Vaccination in people under 50 years of age

These days, as confirmed by the Health Area of Lanzarote, in some basic health areas of the island such as Arrecife, San Bartolomé or Teguise, people between 40 and 49 years of age have already started to be vaccinated, starting to be cited from older to younger. This group, they said, is smaller than the 50 to 59 year olds, so it is expected that in "about two weeks" the administration of the first dose may have been completed.

For now, 13.3% of people between 40 and 49 years have already received at least one dose and 4.5% are immunized. And, among them, there would also be health workers, social health workers, members of essential groups or people with high-risk conditions, who were part of the previous vaccination groups. Therefore, there is also a percentage already vaccinated in the lower age groups.

Specifically, from 30 to 39 years, there is already 9.8% of the population of Lanzarote who have received the first dose and 4.2% who have the complete schedule, while in the 20 to 29 years are 3% immunized and 6.4% who have at least one dose. Also, there is 0.2% of the population between 10 and 19 years of the island that already has at least one dose and 0.1% who have received the complete vaccination schedule.

Of the people summoned until this Wednesday to be vaccinated against Covid, 1,734 did not get the vaccine. However, the Health Area of Lanzarote has specified that "few" are those who have not wanted to get the vaccine, stating that most are cases of people who, due to some disease, have not been able to receive it at that time.
