The passage of a storm is leaving strong winds in Lanzarote and is affecting the operability of César Manrique Airport.

The official account of Air Traffic Controllers of Spain on X has also reported that since this midday the Canary Islands airports were suffering several wind shear problems, sudden changes in wind speed or direction, which affect aircraft circulating through the islands' airspace.

In the case of Lanzarote, more than a dozen flights have suffered delays and it is expected that other flights will also be added to this delay throughout the afternoon. For the moment, two flights have been cancelled, with destination or origin in Gran Canaria.

Among the flights affected by these crosswinds, problems were found on a Ryanair flight between Dublin and Lanzarote and on another flight that arrived from London from the same low-cost airline. In the case of neighboring islands such as Fuerteventura or Gran Canaria, the wind shear forced flights to be diverted to Tenerife South Airport.
