The Salvamar Acrux of Maritime Rescue has rescued an inflatable boat to the north of Lanzarote.
The alert was activated at 9:40 a.m. this Wednesday and the survivors of the makeshift boat will arrive at the Port of Arrecife around 11:00 a.m.
Initially, about fifty people were traveling in the inflatable boat, all in apparent good health.
This is the first boat rescued by Maritime Rescue so far this week. The last one was assisted last Sunday, with 61 people on board.
The Temporary Foreigner Attention Center (CATE) in Arrecife only had these 61 people hosted in its facilities last Monday. In this space, located next to the National Police station in the capital of Lanzarote, the survivors are registered and identified.
The rest of the people who have arrived in makeshift boats in recent weeks to the island have been transferred to the temporary reception centers in Tenerife and Gran Canaria. Therefore, the CATE has the capacity to accommodate more people.
