The president of Emerlan, Isidoro Blanco, received the Cross of Merit of the Civil Guard last Friday, in an act held in Gran Canaria.
Blanco was accompanied by members of the board and volunteers of the NGO, and received the distinction from the Civil Guard by the chief colonel of the Las Palmas Command, Vicente Reig Basset. “It was a very emotional act, where my son also accompanied me, to whom I hope to have instilled the best vital values”, said the president of Emerlan.
Far from being able to celebrate the distinction, the NGO put on its work clothes on Friday to carry out the coordination work of the IronKids Lanzarote, as well as the preparations for the Ironman on Saturday.
“At five in the morning, we were already at the foot of the canyon managing the emergency direction of the Ironman 2022, with my great companion and friend Yoni”, says Isidoro Blanco, thus showing the work carried out by the NGO in one of the most important sporting events of the year.
“It would be unforgivable to forget my colleagues, without whom all this would not have happened: Gabino, Rubén, Sergio, Miguel, Ginés, Aida, Floro, Yeray and Tambo. Also to my cook Jenny and her great kitchen team, who fed the more than 200 emergency components, security forces and all of us who make up the great yellow family of Emerlan, to whom I owe so much and that I would not have hours to name all my battle partners”, thanked Isidoro Blanco.
