"We are in an election year, and Óscar Manuel Noda knows it." This is how the statement sent by the Police and Firefighters Union begins, in which they criticize the "dismantling" of the Yaiza Local Police.
"It's time to promise again, not to give. Who will care that there are 19 vacant positions in the Local Police, or that three new vehicles, worth almost 100,000 euros, are still stored in a warehouse after 2 years? Make no mistake: what matters and is of interest now is the same as exactly 4 years ago: self-satisfied and repetitive speeches that no longer convince even Espinete, adorned with the typical Profident smile of a Disney hero," they denounce from the SPPLB.
The "disinterest" of the mayor with his Local Police "also involves the lack of delivery of clothing and equipment (the last time they were provided with uniforms was in 2019), or official premises that often smell of sewage, and that others act as a municipal landfill. To all these unusual situations, we should add that of another hybrid police vehicle, which has been parked for two years in another warehouse due to a small bump, and that thanks to the mayor's reluctance to have it repaired, its repair will have to be added the cost of new batteries (around 12,000 euros) due to the absurd amount of time it has been inactive, or the "parking" of police motorcycles: a Kosovo-style dump from the 90s, which had to be fumigated due to the presence of a plague of fleas," they criticize from the Union.
The combination of these "so extravagant and unusual" situations has generated "the photograph that prevails in the Local Police Force: disinterest and apathy. To pretend that the citizen security of several tens of thousands of residents and visitors is covered by the presence of a single patrol made up of two members is to confuse churras with merinas," says the SPPLB.
As a result of "this wasteful policy," the SPPLB has gone to court on several occasions. "To this day, all our claims have been accepted by different jurisdictional bodies, without this being enough to activate the thermoreceptors of the UPY-LAVA mayor, and showing off that uncertain reputation as a dialoguing speaker, he has sat down to talk with the representatives of the workers. However, there is always time to redirect the situation, although we greatly fear that, as happened in March 2019, Óscar Manuel Noda has little more than two months to tell us about the improvements he is going to undertake, and four years to explain why he did not want to do anything," they conclude from the Union.
