The Minsk Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra (Belarus) was in charge of closing the 35th Canary Islands Music Festival last Thursday night at the Insular Theater "Victor Fernández Gopar - El Salinero". In 2016, the solo musicians of the most important formations in Minsk (Bolshoi and Philharmonic) joined their potential to create an orchestra dedicated to the chamber repertoire.
From the first moment of their appearances in public they create an enormous expectation, becoming a regular formation in concert halls and festivals in Europe. Vladimir Spivakov, Gerard Korsten or Jamen Gähres are some of the directors with whom the Minsk orchestra has collaborated.
The closing concert began with the work of the Russian composer Anton Arensky entitled Variations on a theme by the Russian composer Piort Llich Tchaikovsky opus 35ª for string orchestra. continuing with the Chamber Symphony, opus 110a (transcription of Quartet No. 8 in C minor, opus by Rudolf Barshai) work by the Soviet composer Dmitri Shostakovich, one of the most important musicians of the 20th century.
The second part of the concert began with the premiere of the work. Four states of the Same by the young Canarian composer, Carlos González Bolaños, which had been commissioned by the festival management. The composer present in the theater went on stage and explained the content of the work that had been a request from the festival management, a work that was directed by Vladimir Spivakov. The concert ended with the "Holberg Suite opus 40 work by the Norwegian composer and pianist considered one of the main representatives of Romanticism, Edvard Grieg.
At the end of each of the works, the public presented the musicians with resounding applause. The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Isaac Castellano, present at the closing, was very satisfied with the musical quality of the orchestras that participated in the festival and with the public's response in each of the concerts held, a total of 5 in Lanzarote and 1 on the island of La Graciosa.
