The MIAC-Castillo de San José culminates its transformation with the inauguration of the last exhibition of the Biennial 2013

The MIAC-Castillo de San José will culminate its transformation with the inauguration of Klasse Gursky, the last exhibition of the 2013 Biennial, which will take place on Saturday. On April 4, Qué Muac, the new gastronomic proposal of the Castle's restaurant, was launched. With these initiatives, the aim is to offer the client a "new and more modern" space in Lanzarote.

The exhibition that will open this new stage of the International Museum of Contemporary Art is Klasse Gursky, a collective exhibition by 17 students from the prestigious Düsseldorf Art Academy, after a stay last August on the island. The students were directed by the renowned photographer Andreas Gursky, who participates in the exhibition with four photographic works.

The inauguration of Klasse Gursky, the last exhibition of the program of the Seventh Biennial ArteLanzarote 2013 Meeting, will take place on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. This first experience with the Düsseldorf School that MIAC initiates through the ArteLanzarote project, with the collaboration of the Helge Achenbach Foundation, brings emerging contemporary creation closer and traces a cultural bridge between Lanzarote and Germany through art, as highlighted by the Tourist Centers.

The International Museum of Contemporary Art, MIAC, dedicates the entire building of the Castillo de San José to this project for the first time. Klasse Gursky occupies, in addition to the upper and lower rooms of the museum, various areas of the restaurant, the terrace and the ticket office, displaying a great diversity of works with multiple techniques and artistic languages such as photography, installation, video, sculpture or drawing.

For this reason, and to facilitate the assembly of the exhibition, the MIAC rooms will remain closed from this Wednesday until Saturday the 10th. Klasse Gursky can be visited at the MIAC-Castillo de San José until September 30.

On the other hand, the artist Anna Vogel, also a student at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, will show her photographic work, individually, under the title Obsessed with the glory days, from 12:00 noon on Saturday in the Marina Rubicón room. This exhibition can also be visited until September 30.

Toñín Corujo, guest artist

In addition, next Sunday, May 12, the timple player Toñín Corujo will be the guest artist at the closing of the Insel Aquarelle exhibition by Gunther Üecker, which will take place from 12:00 noon, at the Convento de Santo Domingo Art Center, in Teguise.
