The CICAR Lanzarote headquarters hosted this Tuesday, June 7, the awards ceremony for the winners of Lanzarote and La Graciosa of the seventh edition of the contest "Paint and take care of your island", organized by the Mercedes Medina Díaz Association.
From the Association they explain that "We are Volcanoes" has been the motto chosen for the current school year, due to the eruptions on the island of La Palma. This edition reached a record participation of 3,853 contestants from the eight islands, distributed by 62 Infant and Primary schools.
The awarded students received a tablet, while the first classified, in the different categories, was awarded with a bonus of free car days on any island during the next six months. In addition, in this edition, all participating centers have been presented with an accreditation diploma "thanking their effort and constant collaboration".
The event was started by the president of the Mercedes Medina Déniz Association, Juan Cruz Sepúlveda, who thanked "the good reception of the contest, the enthusiasm with which the students have participated and the cooperation of the teachers for another year".
The event was attended by representatives of educational centers, family members and members of the Association such as Manuel González Betancor, Omar Lemes Méndez, Carmen Rosa Márquez Aguilar and Carmen Rosa Barreto Robayna. In addition, the director of CICAR, Naira Valls Cabrera, was also present.
List of award winners
The awards are divided into three categories, both in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, and two awards were given in each category.
In the first category of La Graciosa, the first prize was deserted, while the second went to Alba Patínez Martínez. In the second category they were for Aitana Guadalupe Vega and Alba Machín Hernández, while in the third category the winners were Thiago Ramírez Romero and Naomi Guadalupe Hernández. All of them belong to CEIP Ignacio Aldecoa.
On the other hand, in the first category in Lanzarote it fell on Josué Torres Martínez, from CEIP Playa Honda, and the second on Vera Feo García, from CEIP César Manrique.
In the second category, the awards went to Lucas Hernández León, from CEIP Nieves Toledo, and to Yanire Caballero Rodríguez, from CEO Argana. Finally, in the third category the awards went to Sofía López Romero, from CEIP Playa Honda, and to Rouling Chen Xie, from the British Hispanic School.
The rest of the winners are on the websites of CICAR, Mercedes Medina Díaz Association and the Lanzarote Teacher Center (CEP), and will be delivered on the respective islands in the near future.
