The social and cultural association for women Mararía has made public its sorrow for the passing of its founding partner and first honorary member, Rosa Mesa.

The veteran feminist was part of the constituent assembly of the entity and served as vice president between 1994 and 2007.

Her colleagues remember her as a brave, honest woman with unwavering convictions, affectionate and very strong, assertive, sensitive and dedicated to the fight for women's rights; as a wonderful friend, with an unfading smile and a very good person.

The president of Mararía, Nieves Rosa Hernández, has stated that the memory of Rosa Mesa, her generosity and feminist values, will be part of the celebrations of the association's 30th anniversary, “which Rosi helped to build, prop up and consolidate as a space for sisterhood, help, meeting and vindication for all the women of Lanzarote”.
