The Lanzarote Emergency Consortium informs that the episode of high temperatures that will affect the Canary Islands from this Wednesday will extend until at least Saturday, where high temperatures can still be reached in inland areas of the southern half of the island of Lanzarote, and reaching its peak during Wednesday and Thursday.
The minimum temperatures may not drop below 25 degrees, while the maximums can reach 37. These minimums of 25 degrees are considered torrid or equatorial nights, characterized by the difficulty sleeping due to the persistent heat.
Likewise, from this Thursday a significant increase in wind is expected, with strong gusts in inland areas of dry and hot air that can reach 60 kilometers per hour.
Due to this, the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands will declare the alert for maximum temperatures from 08:00 hours this Wednesday.
For its part, the Emergency Consortium recommends avoiding outdoor work between 09:00 and 18:00 hours while this episode of high temperatures continues to avoid heatstroke.
In addition, the issuance of the alert declaration for strong winds from Thursday is not ruled out.
