The Unión Norte Orvecame Wrestling Club, based in Haría, has publicly expressed its deepest sorrow over the passing this Friday of the father of Mateo Hernández, a former fighter for the club and a highly respected individual within the Canarian wrestling family in Lanzarote.
In a statement, the club recalled Mateo Hernández's time in its ranks, highlighting "not only his strength and dedication on the field, but also his nobility, camaraderie, and love for this sport that unites us so much." His time at Unión Norte, they point out, "left a mark on many of those who today continue to keep the tradition of Canarian wrestling alive in the north of the island".
In these moments of pain, the club wanted to convey to Mateo and his entire family "its deepest condolences, accompanying them wholeheartedly in their loss”. "We know that words are never enough, but we want them to feel the support and affection of all of us who are part of Unión Norte, which will always be their home," they express from the entity.
The club concludes its message wishing Mateo Hernández "rest in peace and that the memory of his life and legacy accompany and comfort his loved ones".
