The folk group Coros y Danzas Arrecife participated this Monday afternoon in the program "Island Christmas" and took their Christmas carols to the Plaza de San Roque, in Tinajo.

The members for the occasion wore the traditional clothing of Lanzarote during the 18th - 19th centuries. With more than 60 years since its creation, Coros y Danzas Arrecife takes a break from its traditional songs and dances and brings out the varied repertoire of Canarian Christmas carols of its own creation during these holidays. The public that was in the area visiting the Nativity Scene was the first surprised when they heard the entire group singing the Christmas carols.

The folk group Coros y Danzas Arrecife has taken the name of Lanzarote and the Canary Islands throughout the Canary geography and has also traveled to several Spanish, European and American communities, where it has left an indelible mark with the good work carried out with traditional songs and dances. For this reason, they were worthy of the "Gold Medal of the Canary Islands", which they received on May 30, 2019 at the institutional event held at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The members of Coros y Danzas Arrecife finished their performance corresponding to the "Island Christmas" program, organized by the Culture area of ​​the Cabildo de Lanzarote, performing an encore; thus pleasing the request of the public, who thanked them with their applause.
