The corpse of a dolphin appeared this Friday in the lake of La Santa. A device was trying to find him after being alerted of the presence of a stranded dolphin in the area, and finally found him dead. As explained to La Voz from the Local Police of Tinajo, several surfers found the animal "disoriented" in the water a while before the arrival of the troops. The surfers even tried to "revive him", but, despite this, nothing could be done for him and the dolphin died, according to reports.
After receiving a notice at 112 that there was a stranded animal that seemed to be "injured", Local Police, operators from the Tragsa company, the Civil Guard and the Environment service of the Cabildo have been alerted and have begun the search. The cetacean expert Vidal Martín, president of the Society for the Study of Cetaceans of the Canary Islands, has also traveled to the site. Shortly after the device was started, the Local Police confirmed to La Voz that the animal was dead.
According to what they have indicated, it is a specimen of approximately 1.8 meters long that belongs to the species of spotted dolphins. The troops that have traveled to the place point out that it is an adult and that it could be of advanced age.
