The mayor of Arrecife, Cándido Reguera, and the Councilor for Festivities,
Eduardo Lasso, accompanied by the councilors Ángela Hernández, Gabriel
González and Víctor San Ginés, received this Tuesday morning at the capital's Town Hall the 20 candidates who, this Saturday, August 14, at 9:30 p.m., at the Fairgrounds, will compete for the titles of Miss Arrecife and Queen of the San Ginés 2010 Festivities.
Before, on Friday, August 13, at 9:30 p.m., in the assembly hall of the Arrecife Gran Hotel, the Pregala will take place to elect Miss Congeniality, Miss Photogenic and Miss Elegance.
In the meeting with the municipal authorities, the candidates, dressed in a blue cocktail dress and accompanied by the director of the Gala, Willie Díaz, expressed their enthusiasm for the contest and their expectations, which are "above all to live a new experience and make friends with their colleagues."
Cándido Reguera highlighted the importance of this contest to open Arrecife to tourism and that the capital of the Island is the center of Lanzarote. In this way, he encouraged the 20 applicants to enjoy the coexistence and training offered by the City Council during these days, "and take advantage of this week to access those possibilities that everyone wants for the near future."
The councilors gave the 20 young applicants, as well as Natalia
Duque, Queen of the San Ginés 2009 Festivities, and Sara García, Miss Arrecife
2009, a gift as a souvenir of their time in the capital's Consistory.
20 young applicants
This year a total of 20 girls between 18 and 26 years old will compete for the crown of Miss Arrecife and Queen of the Festivities
of San Ginés 2010, most of whom already have experience in other contests and that even,
some of them, has participated in the previous edition of Miss Arrecife and
Queen of the San Ginés Festivities.
The 20 applicants have started their coexistence this Tuesday at the
Arrecife Gran Hotel and in the extensive journey they will have before the Gala election of Miss Arrecife and Queen of the San Ginés Festivities, which will be held next
Saturday, highlights the offering they will make this Wednesday, at 11:30 a.m., in the
Parish of San Ginés, for the most needy of the municipality and the
subsequent visit to the shops on Calle Real. In addition, on Thursday, day
12, they have planned a 'night getaway' to the premises of Calle José
Antonio, as well as several rehearsals at the Fairgrounds.
For its part, on Friday, at 9:30 p.m., it will take place in the halls
of the Arrecife Gran Hotel, the Pregala for the election of Miss Congeniality, Miss
Photogenic and Miss Elegance, which will give way on Saturday to the Election Gala
and end of the contest.
