The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Waste area and the Martínez Hermanos Foundation, is promoting a new edition of the ‘Solidarity Sneakers’ campaign, a solidarity recycling project that seeks to reuse the footwear that Lanzarote students donate with the aim of sending them to Equatorial Guinea.

Sports shoes can be donated between January 5 and May 15 at the different educational centers on the Island thanks to the collaboration of Lanzarote Recicla and its environmental awareness and recycling campaign.

This initiative is developed with the aim of giving a second life to footwear that is in disuse, but in good condition, to be used for the most disadvantaged young people in Guinea.

In this sense, the area councilor, Hugo Delgado, highlighted that the First Institution hopes that one more year "the population of Lanzarote will collaborate to achieve a great level of acceptance as in past editions”.

“This show of solidarity will allow boys and girls from Equatorial Guinea to have sneakers in good condition so they can play sports,” he added.

It should be remembered that the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Waste area have been developing this initiative for several years, with the purpose that young Guineans use sport as a model of social inclusion and development of healthy habits.
