The arrival in La Graciosa of the team of divers and the support vessel to undertake the repair of the major fault in the underwater pipeline has been brought forward finally to this Tuesday, and from the first hour they are already working in the area to try to put an end to the shortage on the eighth island.
Initially, Canal Gestión stated that they could not arrive until Wednesday, because most of its members "had to travel from different parts of the peninsula and the rest of the archipelago.”
“The efforts and efforts made until late yesterday by this company and the involvement shown by the company in charge of this repair bore fruit”, say from Canal Gestión, which points out that the subcontractor “managed to prioritize its work and managed to move the five divers that are needed at the last minute last night, being able to be present in La Graciosa first thing this morning.”
From Canal Gestión Lanzarote they explain that the team of professionals has begun this Tuesday to “inspect the underwater pipeline in order to locate and confirm the break, to assess the mode of repair, hoping that throughout the morning, and if the state of the sea allows, the work itself can begin.”
The company stresses that these actions are framed “in the emergency plan structured by Canal Gestión Lanzarote from the first minute, to face this water crisis that La Graciosa is suffering, and that is being applied in coordination with the Teguise City Council.”
“It is necessary to emphasize that although the repair of the pipeline is underway, the rest of the measures adopted, such as the provision of drinking water through a tank, remain in force”, they emphasize from the company.
Canal Gestión recalls that from 10 am this Tuesday, the residents of La Graciosa who need water can go to the Caleta de Sebo dock, where a tank with a capacity of 15,000 liters of water has been located.
“This tank has taps so that residents can collect water by filling bottles or any other container. It is necessary to make it clear that this tank will be permanently fully loaded since it will be gradually refilled and depending on the consumption that occurs”, they recall from the company.
Finally, Canal Gestión points out that the refilling is done “by pumping water from another tank that will be constantly making trips between Lanzarote and La Graciosa aboard a barge.”
