The Aemet expands and raises the orange alert for Lanzarote due to high temperatures

The heat episode that has already begun this weekend, will worsen from this Monday and temperatures will continue to rise on Tuesday

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has also extended the high temperature warnings for Lanzarote for this Tuesday. It has also decided to raise the level of the warning, which will start at yellow on Monday and increase to orange on Tuesday.

According to Aemet's forecast, the heatwave that has already begun this weekend will worsen from Monday. The island will be on yellow alert for high temperatures between 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM on Monday.

During the night, the heat will give a respite and the island will no longer be on alert. However, on Tuesday a new warning will be reactivated, between 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM, which will be at orange level this time.

This forecast expects maximums of 34 degrees for Monday, in the south and interior areas of the island. Meanwhile, maximum temperatures could reach up to 37 degrees in Lanzarote, especially in interior areas and southern slopes.
