The 49 people who arrived as stowaways on a tugboat to the coasts of Lanzarote are going to be disembarked in the Port of Arrecife this Friday for "humanitarian reasons." This has been assured by sources from the Government Delegation to La Voz.
Initially, these same sources indicated that the vessel to which a bond of one million euros had been requested, in terms of maintenance, lodging, and return tickets to be able to disembark on the island, had initially decided to return to Dakar, the capital of Senegal, to disembark the migrants by itself and not face this economic charge.
However, it will finally be able to set foot in the Spanish port, "under the responsibility of the consignee." For the moment, it has not transpired if the occupants have shown their intention to request asylum.
The vessel is waiting 12 nautical miles from the island, that is, outside the territorial waters of Lanzarote, waiting to have the authorization of the Maritime Captaincy to be able to enter port.
