Dozens of people have gathered at noon this Saturday in Lanzarote to demand that public administrations guarantee access to decent housing on the island. The mobilization, called in the last few hours, will join another planned for this Sunday in the same place: the old building of the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
Another mobilization has been called on the island for this Sunday, October 4, between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
These types of gatherings have been scheduled throughout the weekend across the country, after this past Friday the PP, Vox, and Junts rejected in the Congress of Deputies the housing decrees approved by the Government of Spain, formed by PSOE and Sumar.
In Tenerife and Gran Canaria, the marches held this Saturday gathered several thousand people. In the capitals of both islands, encampments have also been set up to demand access to housing.
This Sunday's gathering will take place in Arrecife, in front of the Cabildo Viejo, also known as the Casa Amarilla, to demand solutions for the housing situation in Lanzarote, where rental and housing sale prices continue to rise.
The citizen gathering demands that public institutions fulfill their constitutional obligation to take real measures to guarantee access to decent housing for all citizens.
