Ten candidates aspire to become Miss Puerto del Carmen this Friday

A total of ten candidates aspire to win the scepter of the "III Miss Puerto del Carmen Contest" this Friday, August 3. The gala, directed by Rubén Pérez, will take place from 9:30 p.m. in the Plaza de El Varadero, on the occasion of the celebration of the festivities of Our Lady of Carmen.

The Café La Ola Terrace hosted this Wednesday the presentation of the candidates in an event that was attended by the mayor of Tías, José Francisco Hernández, as well as the Councilor for Festivities, Francisco Javier Aparicio, and the Councilor for Tourism, Nerea Santana.

The decoration of the streets of the town from the first hour of tomorrow, Thursday, August 2, by the residents of La Tiñosa will mark the beginning of the festivities, which will have Antonio Pérez López as town crier from 9:00 p.m. in the Plaza de El Varadero. The event will feature the intervention of the timple player Gabriel García and, after his performance, the mariachi "Reposao" will arrive on stage.

Among the events programmed by the Festival Committee and the Tías City Council, the V Coral Habaneras Meeting and the III "Miss Puerto del Carmen" Contest stand out for Friday, August 3. The first will begin at 8:30 p.m. at the El Fondeadero Civic Center and the second at 9:30 p.m. in the Plaza de El Varadero.

At 7:00 p.m. on Saturday the 4th, the triangular football match between Unión Deportiva Lanzarote, Tiense and Puerto del Carmen will begin; at 8:30 p.m. the group Mujercitas y uno Más will stage the play "Fittipaldi Driving School" in El Fondeadero and at 9:30 p.m. the performance of the Güerma Folk Group will take place. On Sunday the 5th, the Lanzarote band "Ciempiés ni Cabeza" will perform in the Plaza de El Varadero.

Events for everyone

On Tuesday the 7th, children will be the main protagonists with puppet theater and a children's show in El Varadero. In addition, all fair attractions will cost one euro that day. At 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday the 8th, the XII Festival of Town Artists will begin and on Thursday the 9th, Got Talent will perform from 9:30 p.m. in the same place.

The events on Friday the 10th will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the Senior Citizens' Dance in El Fondeadero. At 8:00 p.m. an exquisite Canarian sancocho will be tasted and from 10:00 p.m. the parrandas El Geito, El Golpito and Gurfines son los de Puerto will liven up a dance for all audiences.

On Saturday the 11th, the maritime procession will take place, which will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a mass and will be accompanied by the Parranda Marinera Los Buches. At 9:00 p.m. the Folklore Meeting will take place with the groups Raíces de Lanzarote and Amolán de Fuerteventura.

At 2:00 p.m. on Sunday the 12th, the Verbena del Sonajero will begin. Later in the afternoon, at 7:00 p.m., there will be a sung mass with the Marina de Puerto del Carmen Choir, followed by the land procession. The festivities of Our Lady of Carmen will culminate with the performance from 9:00 p.m. of the groups Jóvenes Cantadores and El Pavón, which will be followed by a dance.
