The town of Tahiche experienced the culmination of the main events of its Patron Saint Festivals 2026 this weekend with the celebration of the festivities of Santiago Apóstol and Santa Ana, two days full of tradition, devotion, and neighborhood participation that put the finishing touch to almost a month of activities for all ages. Although the program will conclude next weekend with the traditional popular excursion and the XII Solidarity Race of Tahiche, the most representative celebrations of the festivals have already come to an end.
On Saturday, July 25, the feast day of Santiago Apóstol, numerous neighbors participated in the solemn Eucharist celebrated in the town's hermitage. Afterwards, the image of the patron saint, along with the Virgen del Carmen, paraded through the streets of Tahiche in the traditional procession, accompanied by faithful and the Municipal Band of Teguise Teguiband, on a route marked by solemnity and devotion.
The day continued in the evening at the Sociocultural Center with a performance by the Canarian comedian Darío López, who entertained the audience with a show full of relatable humor, everyday anecdotes, and references to Canarian identity, filling the venue with laughter.
The celebrations continued on Sunday with the feast day of Santa Ana, whose Eucharist once again brought together numerous neighbors. During the homily, the parish priest dedicated some emotional words to the grandparents and grandchildren, coinciding with a particularly significant day for families. Subsequently, the image of Santa Ana, accompanied by Santiago Apóstol, paraded through the streets of the town, supported by her faithful, bringing the religious acts of these patron saint festivals to a close.
To close the day, the festival tent hosted the concert by the group Los Cantadores, who presented their show "18 years singing to the Canary Islands," offering a journey through the popular music of the Archipelago and creating an atmosphere of emotion and participation among the attending audience.
The Santiago el Mayor Neighborhood Association and the Tahiche Festival Commission wish to publicly thank the collaboration of all the companies, businesses, entities, individuals, and volunteers who, once again, have contributed to the development of the festivals. Likewise, both have expressed their recognition to the Illustrious City Council of Teguise for the support and collaboration provided in the organization of the different events, as well as to all the neighbors and visitors who, with their participation, have once again made the Tahiche Festivals a meeting point for coexistence, tradition, and the town's identity.
