The Department of Education has decided that classes in Lanzarote will be taught remotely throughout the day on Friday, March 20, a measure that will also be applied across the entire Canary archipelago given the forecast of adverse weather conditions.

This decision is adopted following the recommendations and preventive measures decreed by the Ministry of Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion and Water, through the General Directorate of Emergencies and Civil Protection, with the aim of avoiding displacements that could put the population at risk, especially the educational community, given the confluence of various meteorological phenomena foreseen for the coming days.

The teaching activity will be carried out remotely whenever technical conditions allow it. In those cases where it is not possible to implement this modality, classes will be suspended. To facilitate educational continuity, the Department of Education has made specific tools for online teaching available to the centers, in addition to having sent recent instructions for their correct application.

Likewise, from the Ministry, management teams are reminded of the importance of adopting basic preventive measures in the centers, such as the review of gutters and drainage systems to avoid obstructions, as well as the supervision of elements that may be affected by the wind.

Finally, the entire educational community is recommended to stay informed through the official channels of the Government of the Canary Islands and to follow at all times the instructions of the General Directorate of Emergencies and Civil Protection.
