The Lanzarote Emergency Consortium has decided to suspend outdoor activities this weekend due to weather conditions. In addition, it has activated the Island Emergency Plan and has reported that extracurricular activities will also be suspended from this Friday. The announcement comes after the State Meteorological Agency activated the orange warning on the island for adverse coastal phenomena and wind, both on Friday and Saturday. In addition, on Friday there is also a pre-alert (yellow warning) for rain.

Specifically, Emergencies has specified that the activities that are suspended are the 'Stockazo' in Arrecife and the Saborea Eno-gastronomic Festival, which was to be held in Teguise. The Magma Fest, which was to take place in Puerto del Carmen this Saturday, November 29, is also postponed until mid-December, as confirmed by the Tías City Council. Likewise, extracurricular activities and "in general, outdoor activities" are suspended, as indicated by the Emergency Consortium to La Voz.

However, the Lanzarote Marathon will be maintained "until the last moment", they clarify. This sporting event will be suspended only if "at the last moment the" appropriate weather conditions do not exist, in which case "the start will not be given." Classes are also maintained in all educational centers on the island for this Friday.

AEMET's forecasts include wind gusts of between 80 and 90 kilometers per hour throughout Lanzarote from midnight this Thursday, with maximum peaks of up to 100 kilometers per hour. Regarding coastal phenomena, the Meteorological Agency predicts waves of up to 6 meters high. From the Emergency Consortium they point out that "much less rain is expected than last week", although "throughout the weekend there will be occasionally heavy showers throughout the island."

As confirmed by Emergencies, the forecast indicates that the bad weather will ease on Sunday. "It seems that the weather will subside on Sunday," they say.
