Salvamento Marítimo has rescued between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning a precarious vessel with 53 migrants on board in waters near Lanzarote, who disembarked at the Los Mármoles dock around 02:00 (local time).
According to sources from the Canary Islands Government's Coordination Center for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes) informed EFE, among the occupants of this vessel there are 49 men and four women, of whom four have stated they are minors.
All of them disembarked in apparent good health and no hospital transfer was required, the consulted sources specified.
The alert for this precarious vessel was received after six in the afternoon on Friday, so a Salvamento Marítimo vessel departed from the dock to search for it, managing to intercept it approximately 64 nautical miles (about 118 kilometers) east of Lanzarote.
Upon their disembarkation at Los Mármoles, a team formed by the Canary Islands Emergency Service, Primary Care, and members of the Spanish Red Cross attended to the migrants.
With this new vessel to Lanzarote, the arrivals of migrants in precarious vessels to the Canary Islands since Thursday rise to 714, according to data provided to EFE by various emergency services.
