The Avenida de las Playas in Puerto del Carmen was filled with rhythm, fun and color this Saturday with the Carnival parade that, for the first time, started from the Playa de Los Pocillos area and not, as until now, from the Hotel San Antonio and Avenida Italia.
Nearly 80 groups between murgas, comparsas, batucadas and floats took the start at 5:00 p.m. from the Costa Mar Shopping Center to travel along the Avenida de las Playas and end in the vicinity of the Apartahotel Fariones Playa after a journey of almost four kilometers.
In this edition, in which the Carnival was dedicated to the world of cinema, the Tías City Council float paid tribute to the famous movie Jurassic Park, with a huge articulated dinosaur. The Councilor for Festivities, Francisco Javier Aparicio Betancort, was characterized as one of its explorer characters.
As tradition dictates, the Parranda marinera Los Buches, the oldest in the conejero Carnival, opened the parade. After them were the members of the Tías government group, with their mayor Pancho Hernández, and the deputy mayor and councilor for Tourism and Culture, Amado Jesús Vizcaíno, accompanied by the rest of the councilors. The municipal delegation attended disguised as the characters from Mary Poppins.
After the Carlinhos Brown concert this Friday and the celebration of the parade and the verbena this Saturday, Puerto del Carmen will enjoy the Day Carnival this Sunday, which will feature performances by Pepe Benavente and the Salvapantallas Group. In addition, during the morning, the little ones will be able to enjoy the Invantil Carnival, with its own parade through the interior streets of La Tiñosa.
