The rain is resisting leaving Lanzarote and La Graciosa. Last December and this January have seen persistent and widespread rainfall that has left notable and highly unusual accumulations in every corner of the islands' topographies.
According to data provided by the Emergency Consortium corresponding to GRAFCAN, during the month of December, 83.6 liters per square meter of rain were recorded in La Villa de Teguise.Meanwhile, in **Yaiza** the rain gauge has collected **up to 72.4 liters per square meter, very close to the 52.7 in Costa Teguise** that fell throughout the month of December.In the northern area of Lanzarote, the standout figures are **51.2 liters per square meter in Caleta de Famara and 42.6 in Órzola**.In what concerns **the month of January so far**, the data collected on the island until 12:00 PM this Monday shows accumulated rainfall of **61.6 liters per square meter in Órzola**, 46.4 in La Villa de Teguise, 37.6 in Caleta de Famara, 36.2 in Yaiza, and 22.9 in Costa TeguiseOn the other hand, the stations of the State Meteorological Agency have recorded up to **56.8 liters per square meter in Haría, 48 in La Graciosa, 22.1 at Lanzarote Airport, 42.2 in Tías, and 38.2 in Tinajo**. All these figures are from the first nineteen days of January.Making a balance of the accumulated rainfall between the two months, the records show **121 liters per square meter in La Villa de Teguise, 108 in Yaiza, 104 in Órzola, 88 in Caleta de Famara, and 75 in Costa Teguise**.
Gusts of over 80 kilometers per hour this past weekend
This past Sunday, Lanzarote and La Graciosa were under a yellow alert for waves and wind, which was strongly felt in different areas. In the case of Haría, gusts of up to 82 kilometers per hour were recorded on this day.
In other areas, the 71 kilometers per hour reached in Tías, the 68 in Tinajo, or the 65 at Lanzarote Airport stood out.
