The celebrations for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Lanzarote will be marked by the presence of rain, wind, and cloudy skies. Contrary to the trend of recent years, where heat and dust storms have been the main features, this December 24th and 25th, Christmas on the island will be characterized by a more wintry atmosphere. This is according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

Looking ahead to this Wednesday, December 24th, the day is expected to start with cloudy intervals, which will increase to cloudy or completely overcast skies throughout the afternoon. It will also be from the afternoon onwards that light or locally moderate rain may appear, mainly affecting the western slope.

This Christmas Eve, temperatures will remain with few changes, with lows of 14 and highs of 22 degrees. Meanwhile, the wind will blow from the northwest and turn from moderate to occasionally strong, being more intense in inland areas and not ruling out the possibility of very strong gusts.

Thus, on Christmas Day, this December 25th, cloudy intervals are expected in Lanzarote with the possibility of light rain during the first half of the day. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, with a slight drop in highs, which will fall to 20 degrees.

During the early hours of Thursday, moderate northwesterly winds are expected, with occasional strong gusts and the possibility of very strong gusts in exposed areas. Meanwhile, they are forecast to ease during the morning and shift to northerly.
