The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Canary Islands Government has declared a pre-alert from 2:00 p.m. this Friday for rain and storms in Lanzarote and the rest of the Canary Islands.

The rainfall will be distributed unevenly throughout the archipelago and is expected to be of weak to moderate intensity in the form of showers that may be locally strong and stormy in the islands with greater relief. The storm pre-alert has also been declared for possible isolated storms.

Given this situation, the Government of the Canary Islands recommends that the population take extreme precautions, especially if they are outdoors, and insists on following the self-protection advice established in these cases to avoid risks.

In this sense, before the start of the rain episode, it is important to check the condition of drains and roofs to avoid damage to the home and once it has started, it is essential to take extreme precautions when driving, moderate speed and increase the safety distance.
