Las Playas Avenue in Puerto del Carmen experienced an authentic and massive party on the occasion of the celebration of its spectacular Carnival parade. For more than four hours, the parade of masks and floats has traveled the main artery of the Lanzarote tourist town with great public and participation success.

This year the figures of the previous edition have been exceeded again, with thousands of Lanzarote residents, residents and tourists who did not want to miss this important event. Records have also been broken in the participation of floats, with a total of 38, in addition to thirty groups, murgas, comparsas and batucadas that have arrived from all the municipalities of the island, as well as numerous masks.

The multicolored and lively parade began around five in the afternoon with the arrival of the Los Buches marine band, as is tradition, followed by the members of the Sur Caliente Comparsa from the municipality of Tías, which this year has once again won the third Interpretation Prize of the Comparsas Contest of the Carnival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. After them, the rest of the carnival groups from all over the island and ingenious and original floats followed. In addition, among the thousands of masks, well-known characters from all over the world also participated, such as Donald Trump, Pope Francis or Charlot, the latter played by Juan Medina, who has been participating in the carnivals of Puerto del Carmen for more than thirty years.

Both the mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, and the Councilor for Tourism, Amado Vizcaíno, agreed that "this Saturday there has been a spectacular atmosphere throughout Las Playas Avenue." "The participation has been really incredible, which demonstrates the importance and relevance that these festivals are acquiring, which also attract numerous visitors every year," highlights the mayor.

For his part, the Councilor for Tourism, Amado Vizcaíno, was very satisfied with the development of the successful parade, which was also broadcast live to the whole world, via the internet, through the youtube channel, the official website of the Tías City Council and the tourist website of Puerto del Carmen, as well as social networks. "It has been a magnificent way to also celebrate in carnival the 50 years of Puerto del Carmen as a tourist destination and show the world, through the internet, one of our most fun and outstanding festivals."

From the Department of Festivities, the councilor Francisco Javier Aparicio has highlighted that the parade took place with total normality, "prevailing at all times the joy and the good atmosphere." Aparicio also wanted to thank the magnificent work carried out by the agents and security forces, as well as the numerous volunteers from Civil Protection, the Red Cross and Emerlan, among others, so that everything went without incident.
