The Brisamar Homeowners' Association has judicially denounced the constant problems in the sanitation network that they have been suffering in their building. The citizens living in the apartment block, located at Avenida La Marina, number six, corner of Ramón Manchón street, in Arrecife, point out "a serious situation, which is not occasional, but repeated over time".
Likewise, the Association has stated that it has requested in court "appropriate compensation for the damages and losses caused", while warning that it is considering filing a lawsuit against the direct party responsible for sanitation for "this evident negligence".
These neighbors have highlighted that although they have made "hundreds of calls to Canal Gestión" and sent "innumerable reports" to the insurance company, no definitive solution has yet been provided.
In this public complaint, they have stated that when Canal Gestión intervenes, the actions have been limited to "partially emptying the pipes", but that they are "so collapsed that it is essential to undertake structural work". In this context, they have added that for approximately one month they have been "suffering serious floods", being forced weekly to "pump out water with vacuums in order to simply walk through the garage".
Collapsed and obstructed
To date, these citizens have indicated that neither the "Filtered Water" department of Canal Gestión nor the Lanzarote Water Consortium have managed to solve the problem. In the complaint filed with this media outlet, they state that the sanitation network, both in the aforementioned street and in Avenida La Marina, is "collapsed and presents obstructions". As a consequence, they have added that the system "overflows and sewage water ends up progressively filtering into the garage of the Brisamar building".
These citizens have explained that approximately one week ago they carried out an intervention with a vacuum truck to try to unblock the network, but it was unsuccessful, "possibly due to the existence of severe blockages or even a break in some section of the network, which would be causing the direct filtration of wastewater into the building."
The Homeowners' Association has considered that there is clear responsibility on the part of various public administrations, from the Arrecife City Council, to Canal Gestión and the Lanzarote Water Consortium. Thus, they have criticized that:
- Resources are allocated to visible actions, while basic infrastructure, such as the sanitation network, is in an evident state of neglect.
- There are entire families, including the elderly, children, and babies, who are living in unsanitary conditions due to the presence of sewage in the building.
- Numerous complaints and claims have been filed; although occasional specific actions are taken, the problem persists due to the lack of a definitive structural solution.
- The situation is causing accelerated deterioration of the building's structure, especially in pillars and construction elements, which poses a real safety risk.
